It just wouldn’t be a happy new year without Bertil Hegland to kick around. JDMC’s favorite Scandinavian whipping boy is back and better than … er … is back.

First of all, let’s get the compliments out of the way so we can clear the decks for snarkage. Bertil, those hands are very good; they are well-proportioned and you can see the underlying tendons. Very nice.

This girl has more to worry about than her manicure, though. Although her fearful gaze is directed forward at the viewer, she might be paying more attention to the headlights of the oncoming Mack truck right behind her. And that classic platinum Scandinavian hair is thanks to Mr. Clairol unless she spends hours dying her eyebrows black. Of course, all that black might merely be leftover mascara since her eyelashes are supersaturated with the stuff. And her dentist might want to work on getting her dentures to look like multiple teeth instead of one very wide one.

Honey, if you didn’t want anyone to see them, you should have worn a different blouse. Or at least buttoned up the one you did wear.

Oh, it’s great to be back.

Milk Carton

Have you seen me? I am a Swedish version of Dead Low Tide, titled Du vet för mycket (You Know Too Much), printed in 1967 by Wahlströms as Månadsdeckare 142. I’ll bet you a kroner that my cover is another Hegland, and might even be the same artwork as the Finnish version above.
