Holy cow! With two different covers to choose from from the first and second American editions, Star Books didn’t like either one and chose to commission a third cover. And it’s worse than either of its predecessors. Phillips’ detail and the striped rug are gone, although the teapot makes a reappearance, along with the debut of a pair of the ugliest blue men’s shoes I’ve ever seen.

The girl was a harsh, unattractive brunette in the Kampden’s original, and a pretty, caring redhead in Phillips’ followup. Here she morphs into a so-so blonde who is looking away into the distance, which I feel is more appropriate to the story.

Milk Carton

Have you seen me? I am the German version of Weep for Me, titled Hemmungslos (Unrestrained), printed in 1955 by Walter Lehning as Panther-Reihe 22.

Update (06/22/2012): Found it! You can see it here.

When did Emily become a blonde?

These scheming floozies change their hair color (well, colour in this case) at the drop of a shoe. And now that I’m on the subject of shoes, Geez Louise, who besides Elvis wears blue shoes? I’m sure that’s what accounts for his frustration. “Perhaps she’ll look at me if only my wardrobe were more co-ordinated. Dang, I don’t own a blue shirt, so I’ll just do without. It’s not working! Maybe I’ll just have a cup of tea.”
